Zig Zag! is a charming, non-verbal outdoor duet for all ages (5+). Two performers build a playful world from simple objects — dozens of wooden reels  — setting tiny tasks that become big decisions. From chaos to calm, connection to division, they fix jams and rebuild together with crafted object manipulations and comic clarity.

Zig Zag! is a light-hearted, non-verbal dance-theatre duet where two performers turn simple objects — dozens of wooden reels — into a living landscape of choices. The reels roll, stack and scatter as obstacles, tools and meeting points. As lines are drawn and redrawn, they move from chaos to calm, connection to division, learning when to pause, repair and try again.

Designed for families and mixed-age crowds (recommended 5+), the show blends crisp physical comedy, crafted object manipulations, and moments of partner acrobatics. It reads clearly at a distance with bold images, rhythmic pacing and audience-friendly beats: quick “this/that” prompts, echo-claps and blink-and-smile reveals. Portable, low/no-power and relaxed in tone, Zig Zag! suits village greens, high streets and school playgrounds. It’s a feel-good invitation to collaborate — to build, unbuild and build again — and to notice how small choices can shift the whole picture.

Audience Comments

“Autin Dance Theatre always create life-long memories for people and transform how local communities see their parks and public spaces. They bring work that rural areas would not otherwise experience.”
“I would always recommend your work. I always feel like we are a real team when we work together, and the self-contained nature of what you do allows us to bring really special work to our audiences.”
